Domaine Chanson Beaune Clos des Mouches Blanc 1er Cru 2022

Beaune 1er Cru

March 08, 2024 - Clos des Mouches is one of Beaune's most celebrated Premier Cru climats, and Domaine Chanson is among its most significant owners, with 4.3 hectares across the site. The name itself is a point of intrigue: "mouches" refers not to flies but to bees, a nod to the hives once kept here by the monks who first cultivated the land. The Blanc occupies 2.2 hectares on the upper part of the hill, where the east-facing slope catches the morning sun and the limestone subsoil covered with sand drives a wine of real precision and freshness.

Wine Spectator -June 24, 2024 "Butter, honey, peach and lemon curd flavors mark this creamy white. Lively acidity keeps this evolving on the palate, while the finish delivers baking spice notes."

Condrieu 2022

Condrieu

January 30, 2024
Condrieu is the ancestral home of the Viognier vine and is the source of one of the world's most exotic white wines. In the mid-20th century, only 20 acres of Viognier remained in Condrieu, leaving the grape and the appellation in serious jeopardy. Guigal was instrumental in bringing this appellation back from near extinction, and today supplements the grapes from their own vineyards with grapes purchased from numerous small growers, ultimately vinifying nearly one-third of the entire appellation.

Ponzi Vineyards Laurelwood Pinot Noir 2022

Laurelwood District

January 12, 2024 - As Wine Spectator once wrote, “All Oregon Pinot Noirs are measured against the Ponzi yardstick.” For over 50 years, the Ponzi family has farmed 140 acres of certified sustainable vineyards on Laurelwood soils. This wine is the result of a decade's long effort by sisters Maria and Luisa and neighboring growers to establish the Laurelwood District, Oregon’s first soil-based AVA. The area’s volcanic basalts, layered with windblown loess, shape the vines' evolution. Bright red fruit gives way to dark berry and brambly spice as the vines mature.

Wine Spectator -October 31, 2024 "Shows elegance and a polished structure, with refined flavors of raspberry and cherry accented by rose petal, dusky spice and orange peel notes that sail toward fine-grained tannins."
